Ben Gailor is the Trade Commissioner for the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait in the Gulf States Relations Division at Global Affairs Canada (GAC). Ben joined the Trade Commissioner Service in 1979. He has had a range of assignments in Ottawa, working on trade development, promotion of foreign direct investment, and Science and Technology cooperation. Ben has had foreign postings in New Delhi, San Francisco, Detroit, Athens, and Raleigh, North Carolina. He has had two secondments, one at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the other at the Clean Growth Hub (on behalf of Fisheries and Oceans Canada). Ben had a three year assignment as the Trade Commissioner embedded with the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance in Ottawa. Ben’s most recent assignment was in GAC’s Regional Network and Intergovernmental Relations Division as the Intergovernmental Relations Advisor for British Columbia and the Yukon.
