His Excellency Dr. Wadee Al-Batti
Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Canada
His Excellency Dr. Al-Batti was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq in Canada since July 2019.
His Excellency received his PH. D in Nuclear Physics from University of Minks, Belarus in 1992. He speaks Arabic, English, Russian, Swedish and Syriac.
Prior to joining the Embassy in Canada, His Excellency Dr. Al- Batti served as a Head of the department of Human Rights in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, Iraq. During that time, he attended the 37th and 39th sessions of the Human Rights Council in Geneve, Switzerland.
Dr. Al-Batti served in several Iraqi diplomatic missions aboard, Ambassador in Korea between 2015 and 2018, Ambassador in Spain between 2013 2015, and Ambassador in Philippines between 2010 and 2013.
At the Headquarter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, Iraq. H.E Dr. Al-Batti has assumed a position of Ambassador in different departments.
Between 2001 and 2009, Dr. Al-Batti lived in Sweden and worked in the private sector for many years.
During the 1990s, he was a Lecturer in the College of Science, at Al-Anbar University in Iraq.

Dr. Yahya A. Majali
Wadi Araba Development Company General Manager, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Dr. Majali 30 years of professional experience includes a comprehensive background in planning, design, and construction management with increasing levels of project responsibility over a broad range of civil engineering, water resources and environmental applications.
His expertise includes facility planning; the preparation of design documents for civil, water, wastewater, and storm water conveyance and treatment facilities for municipal, industrial, federal clients. As a senior project manager with Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., carried out extensive field investigations and desk studies for the New York City Water Supply System and the update to the City of Birmingham, Alabama water distribution and sewer system master plans. During His employment with Morganti Group Inc. (sister company of Consolidated Contractor Company CCC) served as the Technical Manager on a $170 Million As-Samra first BOT project in Jordan.
From 5/2008 – 12/2012, Dr. Majali served as the Director of His Majesty Programming and Scheduling Department with the mandate to coordinate with other Royal Protocol Department heads to plan, organize, and execute His Majesty the King’s Developmental Initiatives. From 2012 till 2016, took the responsibility of directing HRH the Crown Prince’s office with duty of planning and directing all local and international initiatives, activities and operation within the scope of work which are required to fulfill HRH the Crown Prince’s requirements. From 8/2016 till 5/2017 served as Business Development Manager with Louis Berger covering UAE, Qatar and KSA. Since 5/2017 to present date, Dr. Majali held the position of the General Manager of Wadi Araba Development Company, the region is one of Jordan’s poverty pockets with an area of 2000 square km stretching from the Dead Sea North to the Red Sea in the South.
Dr. Majali responsibility for implementing the company mandates mainly; (1) Establishing and improving the infrastructure; (2) Promote the area to attract investors in agricultural, industrial and tourism projects; (3) Protecting the unique environment and conserving the heritage sites; and (4) Establishing a $90 Million Agriculture Technology Fund.

Her Excellency Reem Mohammed Khaled Zaid Al Khaled
Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Canada
Her Excellency Reem Alkhaled presented her credentials to Her Excellency, The Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada on November 1st, 2019, instating Her Excellency as Kuwait’s first female Ambassador to Canada. Ambassador Alkhaled obtained her Masters Degree in International Studies & Diplomacy SOAS – University of London UK in 1999.
Her Excellency Alkhaled brings extensive experience after having ministered at the highest levels in the political sector as Minister Plenipotentiary and Assistant Foreign Minister for the Americas to the State of Kuwait.
Previous to her postings, Ambassador Alkhaled joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was an Assistant to Director of International Organizations for the Establishment of the United Nations Observation Mission between Kuwait -Iraq, and Security Council Resolutions, between Kuwait- Iraq (UNIKOM) following liberation of Kuwait 1991.
Her Excellency Alkhaled is regarded as one of the most pioneering women in the political sector in the State of Kuwait. In 2017, Her Excellency Reem Alkhaled was awarded The Arab Woman Award – Government Award, during her instatement as Assistant Foreign Minister.
While serving as Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Chile, Her Excellency was also awarded the first-class order of merit in recognition of advancing ties between Kuwait and Chile. Ambassador Alkhaled aims to strengthen and broaden the bilateral relationship regarding the political, economic, commercial, educational and cultural domains with Canada.

Her Excellency Souriya Otmani
Ambassador of His Majesty The King of Morocco in Canada
Her Excellency Souriya OTMANI, laureate of the Faculty of Law at Mohammed V University in Rabat is a dynamic, active and committed diplomat who has more than 35 years of professional career within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco. Her personal and professional career has been enriched over the years by occupying several prestigious positions and responsibilities within Moroccan diplomacy.
Before being appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada in April 2018, a position she currently holds, Mrs. Souriya OTMANI was Ambassador in Prague from 2011 to 2018. She served from 2004 to 2011 as Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Montreal and in 1995 in Vienna, Austria, and 1998 in Stockholm, Sweden respectively as Minister Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission.
From 1982, the date of her integration into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco and until 1995, she held various positions of responsibility, both bilaterally and multilaterally, which enabled her to take part in several meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and Vienna and also to represent her country in multiple regional and international forums and conferences in more than 40 countries around the world. She was actively engaged during her duties in order to prevail the position of Morocco on important issues such as the integration of women in development, sustainable development, environment protection, economic and industrial development, social affairs, space affairs and the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
Ambassador Souriya OTMANI’s favorite field remains cultural diplomacy. She is very active in various Diplomatic Groups of Ambassadors accredited in Ottawa, such as the African Group, the Arab Council, the Francophone Group, the Association of African Women Diplomats, the Association of Women Diplomats Heads of Mission and the Association of Ottawa Diplomats.
As a reward for her dynamism and active engagement, Ambassador Souriya OTMANI was awarded in 2017 by the City of Prague, in the Czech Republic, the International Prize for Culture to a foreign personality as well as the Silver Medal of Merit of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also was the recipient on March 12, 2019 of the Best Ambassador Award for the North Africa region in Ottawa and in November 2019, was awarded the “Dynamic African Women Trophy” by the Embassy of Gabon in Ottawa on behalf of the Presidency of the Republic of Gabon.

Her Excellency Hala Abou-Hassira
Ambassador of Palestine to Canada
Her Excellency Hala Abou-Hassira was appointed Ambassador of the Palestinian General Delegation to Canada in March 2020, designating her as the first female Ambassador of Palestine to Canada.
Ambassador Abou-Hassira received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Al-Azhar University- Gaza City in 1998 and a Masters Degree in Diplomacy from the University of Malta in 2003. She speaks Arabic, English, French and Hebrew.
Prior to joining the Embassy of Palestine to Canada, Her Excellency Abou-Hassira served as Ambassador alternate to the European Union in Brussels.
She has served as the Mission of Palestine’s First Counselor to France from 2016. Before that, she served from 2007-2016 as its Political Counsellor in France. Ambassador Abou-Hassira focused on the importance of a just, lasting peace in Palestine and the Middle East region.
Ambassador Abou-Hassira has served as the First Secretary of Palestine to Gabon from 1999 to 2005, overseeing efficient operation and consolidating vital diplomatic relations between Palestine and Gabon, along with the region of Central & West Africa.
During her tenure in France, Ambassador Abou-Hassira obtained extensive experience from the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in Strasbourg, one of the most academically prestigious schools for civil service.

His Excellency Tarig Hassan Abusalih
Ambassador of Sudan to Canada
Tarig Abusalih graduated with B.Sc. in Architecture from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, University of Khartoum, Sudan.
He made further studies in architectural conservation at the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome, Italy.
He began his diplomatic career as Second Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan in 1996.
His first posting was in Algeria as First Secretary from 1999 to 2003, as Consul and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Algiers, then he served as Counsellor of Sudan Embassy in Rome, Italy from 2005 to 2009, and his last posting before coming to Canada was in Spain from 2011 to 2015 where he joined the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Madrid as Minister Plenipotentiary (Chargé d’Affaires and Deputy Head of Mission).
He has also held several positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khartoum, at various departments, including Director of Nominations to International and Regional Organisations, and Director of Real Estate Department, and Director of Planning & Policies, and Acting Director of Research & Studies, and Acting Director of American Affairs Department.
When he was Acting Director of American Affairs Department, he organised many high-level visits to Sudan including two visits of the former U.S. President Mr. Jimmy Carter in April 2010 and January 2011.
He has many activities in Sudan; he is member of the Sudanese Institute of Architects (S.I.A – Sudan), and member of Faculty of Architecture Alumni Association, University of Khartoum (FOAAA), and founder & member of the Sudanese National Archaeological Society (SNAS). He was Secretary of the Committee of the Construction of the Diplomat’s Club, 1997-1999, and member of the Steering Committee of the Club, 2016 – 2017. He was the Editor-in Chief of Elsafeer Magazine 2016-2019.
He is married with 4 children.
Ambassador Tarig Abusalih speaks fluently Arabic and English, and could communicate in French, Spanish and Italian.

Ambassador of Tunisia
The Ambassador of Tunisia Mohamed Imed Torjemane joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tunisia in 1989 as a Secretary at the Diplomatic Institute. In 1993 he was posted in Hamburg (Germany) as Deputy Consul of Tunisia. In 1998, he occupied the post of Head of Section in the General Directorate for Europe. In 2003, he was posted as Consul of Tunisia in Naples (Italy), back to Headquarters in 2008 as a Deputy Director in charge of the Relations with the European Union. In 2010 he was named again in Hamburg (Germany), as Consul of Tunisia. In 2014 he was promoted to the Grade of Minister Plenipotentiary. In 2015 he occupied the post of Director of the Bilateral Relations with the African countries at the Foreign Affairs in Tunisia and since October 2017 he was assigned as Ambassador of Tunisia to Canada.

His Excellency Jamal Abdullah Al-Sallal
Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen, and Dean of the Council of Arab League Ambassadors to Canada
Ambassador Jamal Al-Sallal has a Master’s in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a B.Sc. in Commerce and Economics from Ain Shams University in Cairo. He has devoted his life as a career diplomat to the Republic of Yemen.
The appointment as Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Canada in November, 2016, brings him full circle as, in his first posting in 1986 to 1991; he was responsible for Yemeni-Canadian affairs at the Yemen Embassy in Washington, DC.
From 1994 – 1998, he was Deputy to the Ambassador at the Arab League, based in Cairo.
He then returned to Sana’a and from 1998 – 2000 was a member of the Arabic Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then from 2000 – 2004 was Director for North American and Canadian Affairs assuming the additional responsibility of Vice-chairman of the Department of North and South America from 2002 to 2004.
In 2004, he became Consul-General to Mumbai, India and a year later in 2005, Consul-General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates (UAE).
He was Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran; and non-resident Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 2006 – 2011.
During the years 2011 – 2014 he was Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, following which he was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs in Yemen.
Over the course of his career he has Chaired and participated in many international and regional Conferences. He has also presented numerous research papers on economic development and strategic and foreign policy issues.
Ambassador Al-Sallal speaks fluent Arabic and English and is married with three children.
